The Audi E-tron is an all-wheel-drive electric crossover made by the German brand. Its prototype was first presented to the public in Frankfurt in 2015 as a concept car. Production of the production model began in 2018, and it went on sale in early 2019. The Audi E-tron 55 quattro is an all-wheel drive model in all modifications. The crossover belongs to the premium class of cars and is Audi’s first all-electric car.

General characteristics of the Audi E-Tron
Dimensions. Design. German reliability and handling
The car is built on a modular platform MLB evo developed by Volkswagen. The front suspension is double wishbone, the rear suspension is multilever. The length of the body is 4901 mm, and the wheelbase is 2928 mm. At the time of its release, it was considered a competitor to the Mercedes-Benz EQC.
The resistance coefficient is 0.27. Ground clearance is lower than in the classic crossovers 1616 mm (for example, the Audi Q8 has 43 mm more). Rear loading space is 660 liters. An additional 60 liters of space is available in the front trunk.
The basic package Audi Etron includes front running lights and taillights made on organic LEDs OLED, with low power consumption, which provide a uniform and intense light. The traditional Audi front grille remains. In the basic package the car is equipped with conventional side mirrors, but you can order a modification with “virtual mirrors” – cameras that transmit images to touch OLED-displays in the cabin.

Engine, speed, battery operation
The Audi E-Tron Quattro is equipped with two asynchronous electric motors, one driving the front axle and the other the rear axle. Their total power is 300 kW (or 408 hp). The torque is 664 Nm. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h. in 5.5 seconds, with a top speed of 200 km/h.
The 2019 Audi E-Tron battery (50th model) has a WLTP range of 285 to 339 km, while the 2021 Audi E-Tron 55 already has a range of 368 to 433 km. There is also an energy recovery system, which saves about 30% of the charge and is triggered by coasting or braking.
Audi Eatron interior – comfort in every detail
The Audi E-Tron comes with two control center displays and a four-spoke steering wheel (taken over from the A7 and A8) as standard equipment. On the steering wheel is the transmission selector, as well as the drive mode selection key, located under the right thumb. Earlier we mentioned that the ground clearance of the Audi E-Tron of any generation is quite low. However, an adaptive air suspension is available in the basic package, which is able to change the ground clearance in the range of up to 76 mm. In off-road mode, it can be increased by 36 mm from the standard position, and the Raise function can provide an additional 15 mm (but for a short time – for example, to remove the car from an obstacle). The adaptive suspension itself should provide the same ride comfort both on and off-road. E-tron is assembled and configured in Belgium.
Audi E-Tron options
This electric crossover has several basic modifications:
- Basis – Basic with regular rear-view mirrors, 2-zone climate control, heated seats, on-board computer, power doors (trunk);
- Advanced – Redesigned exterior elements, 20-inch rims.
- S-Line – Sports. The shape of the bumpers and door pads has been changed. The adaptive air suspension has a “sport mode. The Audi E-Tron Sportback is also equipped with a third, additional electric motor.
All modifications are available: 4-zone climate control, the ability to install a panoramic top and equip the car with Bang & Olufsen sound systems. You can buy the Audi E Tron in most Ukrainian car dealerships from 2019.
There are also hybrid cars from the same family Audi E-tron GT – a sports sedan built on the same base as the Porsche Taycan and Audi E-tron Q4, which, unlike the basic model is available in three versions (two of them rear-wheel drive).
Results. Advantages and disadvantages of Audi E Tron according to the results of numerous test drives
Although the Audi e-tron is not the first electric car in the crossover format (Tesla Model X and Jaguar i-Pace have already appeared before it), but it has played into Audi’s hands. They waited out the first rush and took most of the design flaws of their competitors into account. As a result, in terms of price/quality ratio, the Audi Etrone offers adequate comfort and functionality, as well as premium interior and body design. Let’s briefly summarize the pros and cons for any generation of the Audi E-tron.
Pros:
- stylish and modern design. Impeccable quality of assembly and finish;
- exceptional softness of motion, while the car is maneuverable and controllable;
- an adequate price for the Audi Etron;
- elaborate riding modes, many small details are taken into account to increase comfort
Cons:
- The actual power reserve, even in Etron 2021 models, is closer to 300+ than that declared by the manufacturer;
- virtual mirrors with cameras are expensive to maintain and many may find them inconvenient.
